The first step is to inform us of the missing of your dog.
There’s two ways to notify us;
- By filling out an online report form here.
- By calling us during our business hours at (819) 821-4727 option 3.
Afterwards, you must start your research immediately! If possible, try to form a small research team, this will help you and you can cover more ground quickly.
Leave him a mark, take outside a comforter or an object impregnated with his scent. Try to find a place sheltered from the rain, to install one’s objects there.
Create a missing notice with the following informations;
- Recent photo of your pet; ideally where a distinctive sign is clearly visible so that someone can easily recognize him.
- His name & his age.
- Date on which he disappeared, and in which sector was he last seen.
- Your name and contact information (telephone, cellphone, email).
Inform your neighborhood. Have in hand your missing notice and go door-to-door. If no one responds, leave your search notice in the mailbox. This will save you from having to go back and talk to your neighbors, they will have all the information on hand. Post your notice in the shops and different places of your area.
If you live in a rural area, take the time to ask your neighbors to check all farm buildings, to be sure that your dog is not stuck inside. Also sometimes he could have gotten caught in a trap or a collar in the forest.

Social medias offer a very useful platform to display your missing notice. You can quickly share your publication with your community and benefit from several reposts to give a lot of visibility to your notice.
Tips for posting a missing notice on Facebook;
- Create a publication via your personnal page that contains precise and useful information (photo of the animal, your name, your phone number, the sector where he was last seen, his name. a particular trait, etc.).
- Repost your original post in different Facebook groups. Be careful not to make a new post every time. You will find yourself with several publications and can easily lose the thread…
- When you want to share an update on your notice poster, for example because you received the information that it was seen somewhere, or because you found it again, you need to update your original publication. By updating your original publication, it will automatically be modified wherever it has been reposted.
Make search rounds. Go out regularly to call your dog. When you call him, stay in the same place for a long time and listen carefully.
And do not lose hope! Above all, do not give up your research too quickly! Some dogs are lost for weeks, even months, eventually find their family. Keep hope and persevere. After all, your faithful canine companion deserves it!
