Sherbrooke, July 25, 2019 — Last week, la Société protectrice des animaux (SPA) de l’Estrie a received a call for a dog in a car. The outside temperature was 29 °C that day. When the patrollers took the indoor temperature of the vehicule, the digital thermometer dial showed 61.2 °C.

“Since the beginning of May, we have already received 28 reports on this issue, 5 statements of offence and 9 verbal or written notices have already been issued”, says the communication officer of the SPA de l’Estrie, Marie-Pier Quirion. With the heats annouced for the weekend and the hot days of last week, the SPA de l’Estrie wishes to remind dog sitters that their canine companions, just like humans, can be victims of a heat stroke especially when onehere is left alone in a vehicule.
